C T Online Desk: A woman and her teenage daughter were killed, while a five-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after unidentified assailants allegedly entered their home and attacked them in Anwara upazila of Chattogram late Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 10:30pm in the Chenamoti Barua Para area under Ward No. 6 of Paraikora Union.
The deceased were identified as Ani Barua, 40, and her daughter Priyonti Barua, 16. The injured child, Piyas Barua, 5, was admitted to Anwara Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
According to family members, the victims are the wife and children of Sujan Barua, who works as a security guard at a residential building in Chattogram city’s Khatunganj area.
Local residents said they rushed to the house after hearing screams coming from the family residence. Upon entering, they found Ani Barua and her son Piyas lying critically injured near the entrance, while Priyonti’s body was discovered inside the house.
The injured victims were immediately taken for medical treatment, but Ani and Priyonti were pronounced dead. Piyas remains under treatment.
Sujan Barua alleged that the attack was linked to a financial dispute involving a neighbour, identified as Limon Barua Tejopriyo. He claimed that his wife named the alleged attacker before she died.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue for autopsy.
Md Junayet Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Anwara Police Station, said an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the killings.
