C T Online Desk: Noakhali Correspondent : A press conference has been held to protest against former UP member Sohrab Hossain of Ward 02 of Char Wapda Union of Subarnachar Upazila of Noakhali, Purba Char Jabbar village, calling an old video of him smoking a video of drug use on social media Facebook.
On Sunday (January 18) morning, the victim UP member Sohrab Hossain addressed a press conference organized by the locals of Purba Char Jabbar village at the Bonful Restaurant in the district town of Maijdi. Local residents Haque Sahab, Momin Ullah, Md. Ripon, Kamal Hossain and others were present at the press conference.
At this time, former UP member Sohrab Hossain said that he is the Subarnachar Upazila convener of Ziaur Rahman Samaj Kalyan Parishad (JSP) and is associated with BNP politics. In 2005, he participated in the local union council elections as a UP member and was elected with a huge vote. He also participated in the elections in 2021 and won. But his opponent recognized his victory.
He said that ahead of the upcoming national elections, he and his people are campaigning for paddy sheaves in the field. In this campaign, he is getting a huge response from the common people in favor of paddy sheaves. Jealous of this, Awami League friends, local Abdul Quader member, Abul Kalam, Shahjahan Mestri, Abdullah, Sagar and Ali Hossain, started a conspiracy against him.
Sohrab Hossain said that as part of that conspiracy, these Awami League friends are spreading an old video of him smoking in 2016 on social media Facebook, calling it a video of drug use, and defaming his reputation. He protested against this false and slanderous propaganda.
At the same time, this UP member also announced the preparation of cases under the ICT Act by identifying the Facebook IDs spreading misinformation.
