C T Online Desk: Chittagong Port Authority celebrated the Great Independence Day on March 26, 2023 with due dignity by holding various programs
On March 26, 2023 at 9.00 am, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, Rear Admiral M Shahjahan hoisted the national flag, took salute and laid wreath at the Martyr’s Memorial at the Port Republic Club premises. At this time, all the members of Chabak, officers and employees of all places including department heads and Chittagong Port Employees Parishad President/General Secretary, retired freedom fighter officers/employees and other leaders were present.
On the occasion of the great Independence Day, the national flag is hoisted on port buildings, workshops, residential buildings, educational institutions, clubs and ships and vessels stationed at the port. At 9:30 a.m., a discussion meeting, documentary screening and award distribution were held in memory of the martyrs of the 25th March massacre and “Historical leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and development of the country” at Shaheed Fazlur Rahman Munsi Auditorium. In the speech of the chief guest in the discussion meeting, the port chairman said, under the strong leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, th father of the nation for a thousand years, the people of all levels of the country jumped into the movement of independence and as a result of which we achieved independence. He also said that efforts should be taken to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a smart Bangladesh in 2041 by taking a strong role from the position of holding the spirit of the liberation war. At the end of the speech, he distributed prizes among the winners of essay, painting and quiz competitions with the participation of students of various educational institutions of the Port Authority.
On the occasion of the day, special prayers and prayers are organized in all mosques, shrines, temples and Buddhist monasteries under CPA and quality food is served to inpatients at the Port Hospital. On this day, fruit baskets and flower bouquets are given to the captains of the ships stationed at the port jetty.
Also, at the end of Zohr prayers, doa/prayers are organized in remembrance of those killed in the Swat operation in all the mosques and temples of the port. At 12.00 pm on March 25, all ships berthed at Port berths sound their trumpets for 01 (one) minute and from 09.00 pm to 09-01 am black out for 01 (one) minute outside the port reserve area in memory of those killed in the massacre on March 25 night in 1971.
