Another 8,000 tonnes of diesel arrive from India

C T Online Desk: Another 8,000 metric tonnes of diesel from India’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited have reached the Parbatipur Railhead Oil Depot in Dinajpur through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline, taking the total received this year in five consignments to 30,000 metric tonnes.

The latest pumping operation began on April 7 and was completed late on Friday, officials said. Kazi Md Robiul Alam, manager (operations) at Meghna Petroleum Limited, confirmed the development.

Robiul said Bangladesh is expected to receive a total of 40,000 metric tonnes of diesel through the pipeline in April in four consignments.

Another 5,000-metric-tonne shipment is scheduled to arrive on April 17.

Earlier, 5,000 metric tonnes arrived on March 11, another 5,000 on March 23, and 7,000 on April 1 through the same pipeline.

The diesel will be stored at the Parbatipur depot and later supplied to 16 districts in the northern region.

Officials say the pipeline is cutting both transport time and costs, while making fuel supply easier and more secure.
