Schoolteachers continue strike for 10th day

C T Online Desk: MPO-enrolled secondary school teachers continued their indefinite movement for nationalisation on Thursday, for the 10th day.

Several thousand teachers from across the country were seen in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital. They were chanting different slogans to press home the demand.

They said they were not happy with the decisions taken in the meeting held between their delegation and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.

They said that questions were raised on their qualifications in the meeting at International Mother Langue Institute on Wednesday.

The agitating teachers said that they were dissatisfied with some words, which raised questions on their qualifications, used in the meeting.

They with their qualifications educated thousands of students now in different prestigious positions at home and abroad.

Besides, somebody in the meeting called them as anti-liberation force, which irritated them.

They vowed to continue their movement their movement their demand was met.

After the meeting with the representatives of the teachers on Wednesday, Dipu Moni told journalists that the nationalisation would not be possible before the upcoming next general election.

She said that they would form two committees to evaluate the issue.

The minister also urged the teachers to stop the movement and return to classes.

On July 11, the teachers under the banner of Bangladesh Shikhhok Samity launched sit-in programme.
