C T Online Desk: Golam Rabbani, Noakhali Correspondent : Allegations of harassment have been made through various media outlets including social media, including Jubo Dal and Sechchhasebak Dal leaders and activists of BNP and affiliated organizations, for protesting against the excessive price of gas cylinders in Eojbalia Union of Noakhali Sadar Upazila.
The victims raised such allegations at a press conference held at the union’s Saheber Hat Bazar on Thursday morning. Leaders and activists of various levels of the union BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and affiliated organizations, market traders and victim members were present. Earlier, on Monday, a malicious group, focusing on a trivial incident, tried to defame Union Swechchhasebak Dal leader Rajib, Jubo Dal leaders Masud Rana, Kamal and BNP leader Abdul Mannan by spreading false and misleading information. Which created a huge commotion throughout the union.
The victims of the press conference complained that the buyer, BNP leader Abdul Mannan, wanted a cash memo because the price of gas cylinders at Messrs. Kashem Company was higher than the price set by the government. But the owner and manager of the company were unwilling to give it. This led to an argument between the two. At one stage, the owner of the shop, Jubo League leader Main Uddin Ripon, and manager Abdur Rahim got angry and got into a fight with Swechchhasebak Dal leader Rajib and local Jubo Dal Masud Rana. Later, to divert this trivial incident to another sector, a group raised false and extortion allegations. The leaders and activists of the union, BNP and its affiliated organizations strongly condemned and protested against this.
Ward 5 BNP President Nurul Amin Nuru, Aojbalia Union Volunteer Party President candidate Rajib Ahmed, Ward Jubo Dal leaders Masud Rana and Kamal, Ward 5 BNP Senior Vice President Dr. Belal, Sudharam Thana Sramik Dal Organizing Secretary Harun, Aojbalia Union Jubo Dal Member Secretary Ibrahim Khalil, Joint Convener Mamunur Rashid, Shahadat Sohag, Jabed Hossain, Union Volunteer Party Leader Enamul Haque Mamun, Sadar Upazila Chhatra Dal Leader Redwanul Abedin Pranoy, Saheberhat Bazar Traders Sohag, Mohiuddin, Maulana Quader and many others were present at the press conference.
Sudharam Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhidul Islam said that the incident of the fight between the two parties is under investigation. Legal action will be taken against the culprits.
