C T Online Desk: A tanker carrying 27,300 tons of diesel has berthed at Chittagong Port, while another vessel carrying 34,000 tons of fuel is scheduled to arrive later on Friday night, officials said.
The vessel, named MT Yuan Jing He, arrived from Singapore and was brought to the port’s Dolphin Jetty on Friday afternoon. It marks the ninth diesel-carrying ship to reach the port since the onset of the war situation in the Middle East.
Confirming the matter, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Assistant Manager (Public Relations) Farzin Hasan Moumita told Dhaka Tribune that the Singapore-origin vessel has been brought to the Dolphin Jetty and unloading operations will begin soon.
Chittagong Port Authority Member (Harbour and Marine) Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah said MT Yuan Jing He arrived at the outer anchorage early in the morning and was given berthing on a priority basis.
He added that another vessel Shang Gang Fa Jian is also scheduled to arrive later in the night with 34,000 tons of fuel oil.
In addition, two more large vessels carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) have arrived at the port’s outer anchorage.
According to port authority data, 33 fuel-carrying vessels berthed at Chittagong Port in March. Of them, 15 carried various types of fuel oil, eight carried LNG (liquefied natural gas), and nine carried LPG (liquefied petroleum gas).
