C T Online Desk: The month-long Vijay Mela started with the lighting of the victory flame at Vijay Mancha with the slogan ‘Victory of Liberation War Hero Bengali Ahankar’. On Tuesday (December 13) afternoon, the victory flame was lit at the roundabout of the main gate of MA Aziz Stadium amidst the slogans of Vir Mukti Joddha and Amjanta Jai Bangla.
Commodore AW Chowdhury Bir Uttam and Bir Vikram, captain of Operation Jackpot inaugurated Vijay Shikha, Chief Guest Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and CMP Police Commissioner Krishnapada Roy as Chief Guest. The guests handed over the firecracker of Vijay Shikha to Borhanul Hasan Chowdhury Salehin, son of Chattalbir ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, founder of Liberation War Vijay Mela, and Kazi Rajesh Imran, son of brave freedom fighter Kazi Inamul Haque Danu. After the short ceremony at Vijay Shikha Mancha, the guests hoisted the National and Liberation War Victory Mela flag alongside the Vijay Mancha with the National Anthem. After this, the stimulating cultural performance of the Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance Chittagong Metropolitan Branch started at the Victory Stage. At the end, there was a commemoration ceremony of the Liberation War.
