C T Online Desk: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Monday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, exchanging in-depth views on China-Bangladesh relations and international and regional issues of common interest.
Ambassador Yao congratulated Tarique Rahman on his inauguration as Prime Minister and on the successful holding of Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary elections.
Ambassador Yao reiterated the heartfelt congratulations and best wishes of Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China to Tarique, and stated that the Chinese side is prepared to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen political mutual trust, and deepen comprehensive pragmatic cooperation together with the Bangladeshi side.
China supports the Bangladeshi new government in its smooth governance, supports Bangladesh in safeguarding national unity, stability, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, supports Bangladesh in opposing foreign interference, and encourages Bangladesh to play a greater role in international and regional affairs.
Tarique thanked Ambassador Yao for his congratulations and for conveying the best wishes of Chinese leaders, stated that Bangladesh will firmly adhere to the one-China principle, uphold the tradition of friendship with China, and is willing to work with China to continue the friendship and deepen cooperation, so as to elevate the China-Bangladesh Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership to a new height.
