People Eagerly Await Elections : Amir Khasru

C T Online Desk: Shakhawat Sabbir | Special Correspondent : BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that people across the country are now waiting to vote and elect their representatives, as only an elected government can resolve the pressing constitutional and economic challenges Bangladesh is facing.

He made the remarks on Friday (14 November) while speaking to reporters after attending a seminar organized by the Chattogram Travel Forum at Hotel Peninsula in the port city.

Amir Khasru said the country’s accumulated problems require political stability and a government chosen by the people. “We are now focusing on political change. The key demand of the people is a democratic environment that leads to a festive national election. Minor issues do not concern the public at this stage—everyone wants elections,” he added.

Responding to questions about ongoing cases against Sheikh Hasina, he said the verdicts will depend entirely on the judiciary. “Everyone should have confidence in the judicial system,” he noted.

Earlier, in his speech at the event, the BNP leader said that if his party returns to power, it will ensure free primary healthcare services for all citizens. After inaugurating the seminar, he visited various stalls at the Medical Value Travel Summit.

The daylong summit featured leading healthcare institutions, medical travel facilitators, corporate representatives, and travel agencies from China, Malaysia, Thailand, India, and Bangladesh.
