2 containers in one Number, port users confused

C T Online Desk: 20 feet and 40 feet long containers are very popular for safe transportation of goods by sea. All containers in the world have a unique number. As a result, the number of one container does not match with the number of the other. But two 40 feet long containers with same  number were found at Chittagong port.

Port users were shocked by the rare incident in the maritime world. According to sources, the issue was detected in the port’s own Container Terminal Management System (CTMS). The two containers have different seal numbers. One of these containers was discharged from the port on Wednesday (July 19).

At present the ICD yard of one port is kept under RTG 44 at the NCT yard of the other port. The container is kept in the security custody of the two ports. Container number SLHU4500470 (Seal:001535) may contain computer printer, scanner, mouse, keyboard etc. Container number SLHU4500470 (Seal:GTS005946) may contain solar photovoltaic pumping system.
