Gono Odhikar Parishad leader, 14 others injured as bus falls into ditch

C T Online Desk: At least 15 people, including spokesperson of the Gono Odhikar Parishad Faruk Hasan, were injured in a passenger bus accident in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur.

The accident took place on Sunday morning in Ambari area of the upazila.

After the accident, Faruk Hasan went on Facebook Live and said that their bus lost control and fell into a roadside pond, leaving almost all passengers more or less injured.

Faruk said he was also injured in the accident.

“Our vehicle has experienced a terrible accident. The bus lost control over its steering as the driver might have fallen asleep. Efforts are underway to rescue all the injured,” he narrated.

Local people said the bus was traveling at a high speed. It suddenly lost control and fell into the roadside pond. After the accident, locals quickly rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital.

An officer of the Phulbari Fire Service and Civil Defense Station said, “We rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident. However, locals had already rescued the injured before we arrived.”

According to a source associated with Ambari Police Investigation Center, “There were about 15 passengers in the vehicle. Everyone is more or less injured. The injured are receiving treatment at different hospitals.”

No news of anyone being critically injured has been reported, the source added.
