5 killed as bus, three-wheeler collide in Faridpur

C T Online Desk: Four injured passengers have been rescued and admitted to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex.

Five people were killed and four others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a three-wheeler in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 7:30 am on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway in the Babalatola area of Chumurdi Union, said Bhanga Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Mamun.

Among the deceased, the identities of three victims have been confirmed. They are Mizanur Rahman, 45, of Chowkighata village in Gharia Union of Bhanga; Ibrahim Sardar, 70, and Monir Sardar, 45, both from Vayarchar village in Madaripur.

Sub-Inspector Mamun said, “The three-wheeler (Mahindra) was heading towards Madaripur’s Tekerhat from Bhanga, while the Mizan Paribahan bus was en route to Dhaka from Barishal. The collision occurred head-on near the Babalatola bus stand area. Following the accident, the three-wheeler overturned on the road while the bus fled the scene.”

Bhanga Fire Service Station Officer Abu Zafar said that the injured passengers were rescued and admitted to Bhanga Upazila Health Complex.
