CCC mayor: BNP men stayed true to their ideals

C T Online Desk: Despite all the oppression by the Awami League, not a single BNP man has deviated from their ideals, said Shahadat Hossain, the newly appointed Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) mayor.

Dr Shahadat Hossain was welcomed upon his arrival in Chittagong on Tuesday.

During the reception ceremony, Dr Shahadat Hossain said: “I am one of you. This city does not belong to just me but to all of us. It is a city of seven million people, and together, we want to build a beautiful city. We aim to develop it as a planned city.”

He further added: “During the previous Awami League regime, over 600 cases of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings occurred across Bangladesh. Many have suffered through cases and persecution. Nationwide, including in Chittagong, around 100,000 cases have been filed, Despite all this repression, no BNP worker has deviated from their ideals. This is our greatest strength.”

After the reception, Dr Shahadat Hossain visited the shrines of Hazrat Amanat Shah (RA) and Hazrat Badar Shah (RA) for prayers.

Last Sunday, Dr Shahadat Hossain took his oath of office at the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives.
