Tourists advised against travel to hill districts in October

C T Online Desk: The local administration has advised tourists to refrain from travelling to the three hill districts of Bandarban, Rangamati, and Khagrachari from October 8-31.

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin confirmed the directive on Sunday afternoon.

This request comes amid concerns over recent unrest in the region, which has left five people dead and several injured.

Authorities in Rangamati and Khagrachari have also issued similar advisories to tourists, citing safety concerns.

Multiple sources suggest that the decision was made to ensure the safety of visitors amid ongoing tensions in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Previously, a ban was placed on tourist travel to Bandarban due to violence related to the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF). However, tourism continued in Rangamati and Khagrachari until now.

With the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, many hotels and motels in the three hill districts had received numerous bookings.

The cancellation of these bookings is expected to cause significant losses for local businesses in the tourism sector.
