Mymensingh City Corporation vouchers bills of hundreds of crores of rupees for poor quality work in various development works including road development and drainage network. However, without supervising these works, he assisted the contractors in collecting the bills easily with a large amount of commission from the contractors and signed the files. This is how Zahurul Haque, the supervising engineer of City Corporation, has stolen crores of rupees. Another scenario of his cheating is that he joins the job as a diploma engineer but he introduces himself as a B.Sc engineer which is popular. His associate Executive Engineer Md. Azharul Haque and Executive Engineer Jasim Uddin, Executive Engineer Md. Mamun Or Rashid and Executive Engineer Jeeban Krishna Sarkar with their connivance have stolen crores of rupees from the contractors. All the information will come out only if the intelligence agency investigates. He also has numerous flats named after him. What is the source of so much money? According to sources, the government approved the special project on December 7, 2020, considering the development needs in the Mymensingh City Corporation area. The amount of allocation for the project entitled ‘Mymensingh City Corporation road development and improvement of civic services including drainage network’ is 1 thousand 575 crores. Although 30% of the work has been completed, most of the road work in the 33 wards of Mymensingh City Corporation has not been completed. According to City Corporation sources, about 475 km of roads, 345 km of drains and about 17 km of footpaths are to be constructed under this project. The project also includes construction of 37.59 km of retaining wall and 1.10 km of road divider, 3 bridges, 13 culverts and 6 pedestrian-bridges. The duration of the project is till December this year. Most of these projects have been accused of withdrawing bills without working. When asked to know about the complaint, the supervising engineer Zahurul Haque was contacted on his mobile phone but he was not available.
