C T Online Desk: National Debate Federation Bangladesh (NDF BD) and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College (ShSMC) jointly organised ‘Unimed Unihealth 8th NDF BD-ShSMC National Medical Debate & Cultural Festival 23’.
Students, intern doctors, teachers from public and private medical colleges and dental colleges across the country took part in the two-day long mega event at ShSMC, said a press release.
The morning session on the first day event witnessed the participation of thousands of students in a colourful rally which marched the college premises. After that, the opening ceremony began at 9:30am on Friday (July 28).
Prof Dr Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.
Chairman of National Debate Federation and former president of Dhaka University Debating Society AKM Shoaib presided over the opening ceremony.
Nazmul Hossain, managing director of UniHealth Pharma, president of BCS Health Cadre Association and coordinator of ‘Unimed Unihealth 8th NDF BD-ShSMC National Medical Debate & Cultural Festival 23’, Prof. Dr. Dr AM Selim Reza of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Chief Convenor of the event Dr. Sukanya Preeti Usha, were present, among others.
In this year’s event, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Principal Prof Dr. ABM Muksudul Alam was given a lifetime award for his special contribution to the medical sector.
After the launching and opening speeches, debate teams were formed, and quiz, song, recitation, and music video competitions were held.
Following this session, young debating participants attended the cultural event when the medical students performed.
