C T Online Desk: Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been fined Tk50 lakh by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for manipulating the shares of Paramount Insurance Company.
The decision was made at BSEC’s 993rd commission meeting held on Tuesday, BSEC Director Farhana Faruqui confirmed the matter after the meeting.
In a press release, BSEC said that in addition to Shakib, Abul Khayer Hiru has been fined Tk25 lakh, Ishal Communication Limited Tk75 lakh, Monarch Mart Tk1 lakh, Abul Kalam Matbar Tk1 lakh, Lava Electrode Industries Tk1 lakh, and Zahed Kamal Tk1 lakh.
BSEC informed that due to share manipulation of Paramount Insurance Company, a total of Tk1.63 crore in fines has been imposed on all of them.
However, the press release did not specify when or how the manipulation occurred.
