Korean delegation  in Ctg on feasibility of  Metro  Rail  in Port city

C T Online Desk: A special delegation of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KAICA) paid a courtesy call on Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) Vir Muktijodha Mohammad Yunus  regarding the pre-feasibility study  of the Metrorail project. This courtesy meeting was held at the CDA office on Monday (July 8) at 10 am. At that time, information and opinions were provided on the pre-feasibility check of the master plan project under CDA and the metro rail project under implementation by Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) funded by KAICA. At that time CDA Chairman Mohammad Yunus said, we have to plan for the next 50 to 100 years to make Chittagong habitable. Therefore, the metro rail project should not only be thought of for the current city, but the issue of facilitating the communication system of Greater Chittagong as well as South Chittagong and North Chittagong should be kept in mind. That’s why he emphasized on the circular train along with the metro rail and said that if the metro rail project is underground, then how to mitigate the environmental aspects such as floods, tidal waves and landslides should be in the plan. Besides, the chairman assured that CDA will have full cooperation to speed up the work of the project. Mohammad Abu Isa Ansari, Project Director and Deputy Chief Town Planner of the ongoing Master Plan Project and Zaheer Ahmed, Town Planner were also present at this time. Present on behalf of the Korean International Cooperation Agency were Mir Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, project director of the MRT project, Ilho Chung, vice president of Yosin Engineering Corporation, Junheng Jo and Sangyo Lee.
