Bangabandhu south tunnel completes : Light vehicles to run under Karnaphuli,  works of first tube ended

Manjur Hossain, secretary of the bridge department of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, gave this

information in a letter.

The work of South Tube of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel has been completed. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate it by participating virtually as the chief guest.

Harunur Rashid, the director of the Karnaphuli tunnel construction project, said that the government

is building a tunnel under the Karnaphuli river to make Chittagong a ‘one city two town’ model like Shanghai in China. The prime minister will inaugurate a tube of the much-awaited tunnel.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Patenga end of the tunnel. The entire tunnel will be inaugurated next January. Ministers, members of parliament, political figures and many others will be involved in it.
