KPM shut for a month lack of pulp

C T Online Desk: Karnaphuli Paper Mill (KPM) at Chandraghona in Kaptai, one of the institutions of BCIC under the Ministry of Industry, has stopped paper production for 28 consecutive days  lack of foreign pulp. It has caused a loss of crores of taka.

On the other hand, hundreds of workers transferred from the factory are using gas, electricity and water in the residential quarter of the mill without following the rules. Despite repeated notices to vacate their homes, the mill authorities are not taking any effective action against them as they have not vacated their homes.

It is said that if these illegal residents are evicted, the mill will save millions of rupees. In order to reduce the cost of the mill, the electricity connection of many shops and houses has already been cut due to illegal electricity connection and bill arrears., factory sources said.
