C T Online Desk: In order to strengthen and modernize the security system of Chittagong port, 1 thousand 241 cameras have been installed.
The US Coast Guard has expressed satisfaction with the port’s overall security measures. Besides, 60 metric tons of dangerous goods in the port have been destroyed.
This information was informed in the meeting regarding the development, finance and administration of Chittagong Port held in the meeting room of the Ministry of Shipping on Sunday. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
Meanwhile, the state minister said that recently a delegation of the US Coast Guard visited Chittagong port and expressed satisfaction with the overall security system of the port. 60 metric tons of hazardous goods have already been destroyed at Chittagong port under the supervision of customs authorities.
The work of increasing navigability through dredging from Sadarghat of Karnaphuli river in Chittagong port to Baklia Char has been completed by 95 percent, the remaining work will be completed in September. Conservation dredging work will continue in this area for the next three years.
