C T Online Desk: Sewerage and sewerage projects are being implemented under Chittagong WASA to improve the city’s sewage system.
To implement this project, 41 wards of the city have been divided into 6 zones.
Currently, the work of the first zone is going on. About 16 percent progress has been made in two and a half years of this project which started in November 2019. The two-year corona epidemic is the reason for the slowness of the project – say WASA officials. Although the project is scheduled to expire in 2023, it will be extended further, they said.
The city has been divided into six zones or catchment areas in the implementation of the project. Cashment-1 or Halisahar area is currently being worked on among these cashments. According to WASA sources, the work of cashment-1 started in November 2019. Chittagong WASA is giving Tk 50 crore of this project of about Tk 3 thousand 808 crore and the remaining amount will be given by Korean Exim Bank. Malaysia-based consulting firm Erinco is working on the implementation of this project.
