Bangabandhu Tunnel : 65% of  6 -lane project completed

C T Online Desk: Before the inauguration of Bangabandhu Tunnel, the work of four lanes of the six-lane road from the crossing to Kalabibi Dighi Mor in Anwara should be completed.

In the meantime, a total of 5 kilometers of four-lane roads have been completed, including one kilometer from the crossing to Fakirni Hat, two kilometers from Shahmirpur to Fazil Khan Hat, one kilometer from Fazil Khan Hat to Bara Utan and one kilometer from Chatri Choumuhani Bazar to Kalabibi Dighi Mor. Work on the remaining three kilometers is underway. Soil filling work is going on at some points. The contractor company NDA said that carpeting work will be done on the road after the completion of these works. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the Bangabandhu Tunnel in December.

Project Director Engineer Harunur Rashid said that 91 percent of the tunnel work has been completed. According to sources, the construction of 8.10 km six-lane road from Crossing Y Junction to Dighir More in Kalabibi is going on at a cost of Tk 266 crore as a tunnel connecting road.
