C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : The upazila administration has conducted a mobile court campaign in Trishal Upazila of Mymensingh to protect consumer rights and control the market of daily necessities in the public interest. The campaign was conducted on Sunday (March 01) under the direction of the Upazila Executive Officer in various raw markets, hotels, restaurants, jewelry shops and other business establishments in the upazila.
During the operation, a total of 6,000 taka fine was imposed and immediately collected in 4 cases as irregularities were proven under the relevant sections of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and the Essential Commodities Control Act, 1956. It is learnt that these cases were filed on charges such as not displaying the price list of products in the market, underselling and selling products at a price higher than the fixed price.
The mobile court was run by Trishal Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman. A team from Trishal Police Station provided overall support in the campaign. The upazila administration informed that such campaigns will continue regularly to ensure transparency and fair prices in the market and protect the rights of consumers
