C T Online Desk: Sarwar Ship Jewel Mymensingh: With the aim of creating public awareness for the expansion, conservation, enrichment and sustainable use of the country’s fisheries resources, the National Fisheries Week 2025 has been inaugurated in Trishal, Mymensingh, like the rest of the country, with the theme ‘Building sanctuaries, filling the country with native fish’.
On Monday (August 18), the upazila administration and senior upazila fisheries department organized various programs on this occasion. The programs included a colorful rally, release of pona fish, discussion meetings and prize distribution.
A colorful rally started from the Upazila Parishad premises in the morning. The rally circled the important roads of the municipality and ended at the same place. At the end of the rally, fish were released into the pond adjacent to the Trishal Markaz Mosque.
Later, a discussion meeting was held on this occasion at Rashedul Islam Conference Hall. Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Bakiul Bari was the chief guest.
Chaired by Upazila Fish Farm Manager Mozammel Haque and moderated by Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Abu Bakar Siddique, the event was addressed by Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Mahbubur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge Mansur Ahmed, Secretary of Trishal Unnayan Forum and Assistant Professor of Trishal Mohila College Khabiruzzaman, President of Upazila Press Club Trishal Sarwar Jahan Jewel, among others.
In addition, officials from various government departments, journalists from various journalist organizations including the Upazila Press Club Trishal, print and electronic media, heads of various educational institutions, and fishermen and farmers of the Upazila were present.
At the discussion meeting, speakers called for awareness, prosperity, and dynamism in safe fisheries, as well as discussing various obstacles and their solutions.
