C T Online Desk: Dengue virus serotype DENV 2 and DENV 3 are dominating the Dhaka city dengue transmission.
Of the patients, DEN 2 serotype virus has been found among 62 percent patients and DEN 3 found among 38 percent dengue patients till July 5 this year, says IEDCR report.
The country’s dengue situation has been deteriorating day by day as the vector of the deadly disease has been spreading rapidly in the capital and elsewhere in the country.
The dengue situation is turning alarming in the capital as both Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have a large number of hotspots and Aedes mosquito breeding grounds.
The DGHS reported that a total of 9,871 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals and 61 patients died across the country, including in Dhaka, this year.
Some 1893 dengue patients were hospitalised and 14 die in the country in only four days of the current month July while 5,956 dengue patients were hospitalised and 34 died in July.
The DGHS data further said a total of 1,629 dengue patients were undergoing treatment across the country till Tuesday morning. Of them, 1,100 patients were in hospitals of Dhaka city.
Analyzing the data of the DGHS, it has been found that the dengue outbreak has spread to over 50 districts of the country while highest number of infection cases and death are reported in Dhaka.
Of the total deaths, around 80 percent of the patients died within only one to three days of admission in the hospital.
