293 mandops  decorated for Durga Puja in Port city

C T Online Desk: Durga Puja, the biggest festival of  sanatani Hindu community , is knocking at the door. Kashful of autumn conveys the message of the arrival of the goddess.

Goddess Durga is a symbol of strength and beauty to Sanatan devotees. Sanatan religious people think that autumn Durga Puja is organized to remove all injustice,  and discrimination from the society.

Preparations for Goddess Vandana have started across the city. Dress up all around.

It is seen that the potters are not able to catch their breath by going to Sadarghat, Enayet Bazar, Hazari Lane, Rajapur Lane, Chawkbazar and several idols in the city. In the artistic craftsmanship, the beautiful statue is now covered with color scratches.

Shubo Pal, a potter at an idol shop in Goalpara, told  that they have received orders for 70 idols this year. Out of this, 50 sets of idols are being made in the idol mall of the city and the remaining 20 are being made in the pooja mandaps of different upazilas. All nearing completion, now the paint job has begun. After that, the work of decorating the idol and placing the ornaments will begin.

Meanwhile, gate, pandal and decoration work has also started in various pujamandap. Durga Puja will be held in 293 public pujamandaps in the city this time. The organizers will start taking idols in the mandap only after Mahalaya on October 14. The main ceremony of Durga Puja will begin on October 20 during Mahasashti.

Hillol Sen Ujjal Sen, general secretary of Mahanagar Puja Celebration Parishad, told that all preparations are being made to celebrate Puja in the city in a fair and peaceful manner. A meeting has already been held with the Mayor of the City Corporation. There will be a meeting with the CMP Commissioner on October 8. This time there is emphasis on providing extra security during Durga Puja. Apart from this, instructions have been given for separate volunteer teams as well as CCTV system in each pujamandaps.
