ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Trophy embarks on three-day tour in Bangladesh

C T Online Desk: The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy will be on a three-day visit to Bangladesh starting Monday as part of the official Trophy Tour.

The trophy of the biggest cricket event is scheduled to reach Dhaka at midnight.

On the first day of the tour, an official photoshoot will take place at Service Area 1 of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge.

On the second day, Tuesday, the trophy will be on display at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from 9 am to 12 pm for the Bangladesh national men’s and women’s cricket teams, current and former cricketers, cricket officials, organizers, and members of the media.

On the third and final day of the tour, Wednesday, the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy will be for public display at Bashundhara City Shopping Mall in Dhaka from 11 am onwards.

Considered one of the biggest sports events in the world, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup this year will be held in India from October 5 till November 19. The tournament will host 45 matches across ten venues, where ten of the best teams in world cricket will battle it out for the ultimate prize in world cricket.

Bangladesh will begin its World Cup campaign taking on Afghanistan on October 7 in Dharamshala.

The trophy tour takes place in the lead-up to all major events in the ICC calendar and is designed to provide unique opportunities for fans around the world to connect with the most coveted silverware in world cricket.

During its travels, the trophy tour takes in a variety of different activities, all aiming to drive awareness, excitement, and unity among cricket’s significant global fanbase.

In the past, the iconic silverware has met heads of state, launched community initiatives, supported cricket development programs, and visited some of the most iconic landmarks around the globe.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy is an internationally recognized treasure of global cricket. The Trophy was designed and manufactured in London by Garrard, the Crown Jewellers.

Crafted in silver and gilt, the 60-cm high trophy features a golden globe held aloft by three silver columns. The globe is presented in the form of a stylized cricket ball while the columns, styled as stumps and bails, represent the three essential pillars of the game – batting, bowling, and fielding.

Valued at over GB£40,000 and weighing approximately 11 kilos, the trophy has been designed in Platonic dimensions to ensure its uniqueness is instantly recognized no matter from which angle it is viewed.
