C T Online Desk: Three Bangladeshi students were killed and one other was injured in a road accident in Canada on Monday night.
The accident took place on Highway 427 southbound ramp to Dundas Street West in Ontario.
Everyone from the vehicle has been identified, they were all living in Toronto on study permits from Bangladesh, said Ontario Provincial Police in a tweet.
Toronto paramedics say two people were pronounced dead at the scene of a Highway 427 crash.
OPP said a woman and man, both 20, and a 17-year-old boy died in the crash. The injured driver, a 21-year-old man, remains in critical condition.
However, Bangladeshi expatriates in Canada said that the three students killed are Shahriar Khan, Angela Baroi, and Arian Deepta. However, the names and identities of the injured students have not been confirmed by the Canadian police or the country’s media.
Toronto police said the families of the victims have been notified.
The law enforcers said they were called to the area around 11:30pm on Monday night.
A vehicle rolled over and caught fire, according to police.
Toronto Fire Services said firefighters were required to put out the flames and rescue the trapped occupants.
Paramedics confirmed that two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while two more were taken to hospital. Around 8:30 am on Tuesday, the OPP confirmed that the third person had died.
While the ramp has reopened to traffic, police said the investigation will continue.
