IDCOL registers $2b investment in 25yrs

C T Online Desk: Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL), a state-owned nonbank financial institution, has got around $2 billion invested in the vital sectors like renewable power, port, energy and infrastructure.

And the investment has taken place by way of Public Private Partnership in the last 25 years.

This was said by IDCOL Chief Executive Officer Alamgir Morshed at celebration of silver jubilee of the organisation at Le Meridien Dhaka on Friday.

He said the investment was aimed at contributing to Vision-2041 Goal and renewable energy target as set by the government.

Started in 1997, the nonbank financial institute has diversified its support from infrastructural development for renewable energy into many other sectors.

Chairman of IDCOL and secretary of Economic Relations Division Fatima Yasmin chaired the programme which was attended by senior secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Md Tofazzal Hossain Mia, secretary to Power Division Md Habibur Rahman and senior secretary to Finance Division Abdur Rouf Talukder. BSRM Group Chairman Ali Hossain Akbar Ali, Basundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Paragon Group MD Moshiur Rahman, Orion Group MD Salman Obaidul Karim, Confidence Group Director Imran Karim, former president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Barrister Nihad Kabir, among others, were present.
