C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh: A special family card distribution program has been inaugurated to ensure economic security for marginalized and low-income people in Kanthal Union No. 3 of Trishal Upazila of Mymensingh.
Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced the auspicious inauguration of this welfare-oriented program through a virtual video conference from Ganabhaban.
According to local administration sources, after verifying the documents of 1,289 applicant families of Kanthal Union, 659 families have been given family cards in the first phase. Through this card, the beneficiary families will be able to procure daily necessities at affordable prices under special government facilities.
Saifur Islam presided over the program jointly organized by the Trishal Upazila Administration and the Union Parishad. He emphasized on maintaining transparency in the distribution of family cards and delivering the benefits to the actual beneficiaries.
Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton was present as a special guest at the event. He praised the government’s humanitarian initiative and said that the government is working relentlessly to provide basic amenities at the doorsteps of the common man.
Local public representatives, upazila administration officials, political leaders and dignitaries of the area were present at the time. The concerned department said that the remaining applications will be re-evaluated and the next list will be published in phases.
