Prime Minister inaugurated the national Nazrul Birth Anniversary celebrations in Trishal

C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh:  Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated a three-day national programme to mark the 127th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural programme held at Nazrul Mancha in Trishal, Mymensingh on Saturday (May 23), he delivered important speeches on Nazrul’s teachings, rule of law, development and the recent law and order situation.

Stating that the government is proud to organize Nazrul’s birth anniversary at the national level in Trishal after almost two decades, the Prime Minister said, “Nazrul’s birth anniversary has not been organized at the national level since 2006. The government is proud to organize this nationally again at Trishal, which is associated with the memory of Nazrul.”

She said that due to the long-term fascist rule, various institutions of the country have been damaged and the judiciary has also been negatively affected. At the same time, the Prime Minister, expressing her strong stance against violence against children and women, said that the current government will not accept any kind of violence against women and children.

Proposal to declare Trishal as ‘Nazrul City’

Stressing the importance of developing Trishal, which is associated with the memory of Nazrul, as a special cultural center, the Prime Minister said that the Ministry of Culture has been called upon to take necessary initiatives to declare Trishal as a “Nazrul City”. Through this declaration, she highlighted the possibility of transforming this town, which is remembered by the national poet, into a more prosperous cultural city.

But a group is deliberately trying to obstruct that natural justice process.” She alleged that those who are blocking roads and creating chaotic situations do not care about the rights and public interests of the common people; rather, they want to create an unstable environment in the country.

‘The country is like a family’

The Prime Minister said at the rally, “The country is like a family. It is not possible to ensure all the facilities of nearly 200 million people together. However, if everyone is united, it will be possible to implement all the promises step by step.”

He also said that if anarchy arises in the country, the government’s various public welfare initiatives, such as family cards, farmer cards and other social security programs, could be disrupted. He urged the people to be vigilant.

Announcing a new program in the education sector, the Prime Minister said that the government will start distributing school uniforms and school bags to primary school students from July. There are plans to gradually expand this program to other educational institutions in the country.

Emphasis on re-excavation of canals in Mymensingh region Highlighting the importance of canal re-excavation for water management and agricultural development in the Mymensingh region, the Prime Minister said, “There are about 2,500 kilometers of canals in the entire Mymensingh region that need to be re-excavated. The government is working on this issue in a planned manner.”

He said, “Now is the time to change the destiny of the people. A group is engaged in confusion and conspiracy to disrupt the implementation of the government’s development and public welfare programs, but no conspiracy will succeed in the face of the unity of the people.”
