C T Online Desk: May 5, 2026- Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain stressed the need for coordinated efforts to address waterlogging in the city.
Besides infrastructure development, he said solution to the waterlogging issue requires citizen awareness and collaboration among all relevant departments.
The CCC Mayor made the remarks during an inspection of the crash program conducted as part of the month-long drain-cleaning initiative in various areas of the city on Tuesday.
The Mayor oversaw the ongoing cleanliness activities from Kazir Hat Bazar in Ward No. 5 to Char Rangamatia School, from Pakka Shop on Khwaja Road in Ward No. 6 to Baitul Mukarram Jame Mosque, from Chaumuhani in Ward No. 28 to Kadamtali, and from Pathantuli Khan Bari in Ward No. 23 to Pathantuli Road near Chatteshwari Mosque.
During the inspection, the Mayor stressed the importance of preventing waterlogging and responsible waste disposal.
The city belongs to everyone and all should act responsively, said the Mayor.
He said garbage thrown into canals and drains obstructs the water drainage system, leading to waterlogging even with minimal rainfall.
He sought cooperation from the residents to solve the waterlogging issue permanently.
