C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh : A mobile ‘Vote Car’ has arrived in Trishal, Mymensingh to raise public awareness about the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and referendum. The car arrived at the Government Nazrul Academy grounds in Trishal Upazila at 10 am today, January 18 (Sunday) as part of the election campaign.
From 11:00 AM, awareness activities were conducted among the general public through voting vehicles about the importance of referendums, national elections, and exercising voting rights. At that time, people from different classes and professions, students, and the youth present in the field spontaneously participated in this campaign.
Various documentaries on the July Uprising, the role of the July fighters, the murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad, and the Felani murder were screened through the mobile voting vehicle. These documentaries highlighted the country’s democratic movement, human rights violations, and demands for justice.
In addition, five PSAs/PVCs, jointly produced by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Information, highlight the history of past lack of democracy, border killings, and deprivation of youth and women. The audio-visual message of the car encourages voters to exercise their right to vote.
Trishal Upazila Executive Officer Arafat Siddiqui, Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Hossain, Upazila Education Officer, teachers and students of various educational institutions, and local dignitaries were present during the campaigning of the voting vehicle.
At that time, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arafat Siddiqui said, “Such initiatives to make people aware of voting rights are very effective. The administration is fully prepared to ensure free, fair and participatory elections.”
Locals say that such information-based campaigns through voting vehicles are creating interest in elections and democracy among the new generation.
It is worth noting that public awareness activities are being carried out continuously through this mobile voting vehicle before the voting in the Mymensingh-7 (Trishal) parliamentary constituency.
