C T Online Desk: Shakhawat Sabbir | Special Correspondent : Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazl Md. Sanaullah has said that the schedules for the upcoming parliamentary election and the national referendum will be announced within this week. He added that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) will address the nation on the occasion. “We will send a letter to BTV to record the CEC’s speech,” he said.
He made the remarks on Sunday (7 December) after a commission meeting held at the CEC’s conference room in the Election Commission Secretariat.
Sanaullah stated that the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum would be finalised within the week. Prior to the announcement, as per tradition, the full commission will meet the President. Letters will also be sent tomorrow to Bangladesh Betar and BTV requesting arrangements to record the CEC’s address.
He further said that the commission has already prepared the list of presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers. Officials from government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, as well as state-owned banks, will be included in the pool. Officials from private banks will be kept on reserve for now. As in previous elections, all polling materials and ballot papers will reach polling centres on the night before election day.
The meeting was presided over by Chief Election Commissioner A. M. M. Nasir Uddin, attended by the four other election commissioners, the EC secretary, and senior officials.
