C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh: During a review of the quality and management of healthcare at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, a doctor had an argument with the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zafar. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking criticism. Dr. Dhandeb Barman, the casualty in-charge involved in the incident, has been ordered to be expelled.
On Saturday (December 6) morning, Professor Dr. Md. Abu Jaf was the chief guest at a seminar on the recent advances and challenges in the treatment of diseases related to the urinary tract and reproductive system in children at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Before participating in the seminar, DG Dr. Md. Abu Zafar visited the hospital and raised questions about the quality of service, emergency department management, patient management and staff attendance. At that time, Casualty In-charge Dr. Dhandeb Barman expressed his anger over the limitations of his department, manpower shortage and the pressure of performing duties, which led to a heated exchange of words between the DG and him. Later, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zafar, ordered the expulsion of Dr. Dhandeb Barman.
Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Assistant Director (Administration) Mohammad Main Uddin Khan said, ‘During the inspection, the Director General of the Department of Health Sir and Dr. Dhandeb Barman exchanged heated words about the quality of service, which is not at all desirable. However, nothing more can be said about the matter now.
