Man surrenders to police station after killing friend

C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh :  A student named Muntasir Fahim, who was studying in Malaysia, was hacked to death by his friend Ahidul Islam Anik. Later, he appeared at the police station and told the police that Fahim ruined my life, so I hacked him to death with a Chinese axe.

The incident took place at the Trishal Government Nazrul Academy ground in Mymensingh around 8:30 pm on Thursday (November 27).

The deceased, Muntasir Fahim (22), is the son of Badal Mia of Chikna Manohar village in Trishal Union. The accused, Ahidul Islam Anik, is the son of Zahirul Islam of Darirampur village in Trishal Municipality.

According to local sources, Anik attacked Fahim with a Chinese axe near a water tank on the south side of the vocational branch of the Government Nazrul Academy. Fahim died on the spot. At around 9 pm, the accused Anik went to Trishal police station with a Chinese axe in his hand and told the duty officer that he had killed his friend Fahim. After that, the police calmed him down and took him into custody and, based on the information he gave, quickly reached the spot and recovered Fahim’s injured body.

Fahim’s grandmother, Maqsuda Akhter, said, “My grandson lived in a rented house behind the municipal hospital. He was studying in Malaysia. He came back from Malaysia four months ago. He had a flight to return to Malaysia on December 25. Fahim was always at home, Anik would call him. He planned to kill my grandson.”

Fahim’s father Rezaul Islam Badal said, “My son is studying abroad and is coming home on vacation as the university has been closed for a few days. He was supposed to return to City University in Malaysia next Saturday (November 29). I don’t know why my son was killed. Anik planned to call Fahim and kill him. I demand strict justice for the murder of my son.”

Confirming the matter, Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Sheikh Golam Mostafa Rubel said, “The killer, Ahidul Islam Anik, surrendered to the police station after killing Fahim with a sharp Chinese axe covered in blood. During initial interrogation, he confessed to the murder.”

When asked about this, Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mansur Ahmed said, “It is initially believed that the murder took place due to a personal dispute. The entire incident will be investigated and legal action will be taken.” The body of the deceased has been recovered and sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. He also said that the arrested Anik is being questioned.
