C T Online Desk: Shakhawat Sabbir | Special Correspondent : Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has reaffirmed the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring a free, neutral, and widely accepted national election. “We are committed to delivering a beautiful and acceptable election. This is our promise to the nation,” he said on Sunday (15 November) while addressing a dialogue with political parties.
The CEC said the dialogue was arranged for two main reasons: to seek cooperation in enforcing the election code of conduct and to ensure collective support from political parties for a fair election.
He noted that the code of conduct was finalized based on written recommendations from political parties and has long been available on the EC website. “A good election depends on strict adherence to this code,” he stressed.
The CEC said the current commission had to handle several major tasks, but earlier reforms helped ease some pressure. He urged parties to cooperate so the EC does not need to enforce rules harshly.
“We cannot work for any party. We will only follow the law,” he said.
He identified AI-driven misinformation on social media as the biggest new challenge and sought joint efforts to counter it.
