C T Online Desk: The Election Commission for CUCSU polls started distributing nomination papers among aspirant candidates on Sunday morning, breaking a 35-year hiatus. The final voter list was also published online, showing total 27,634 voters, including 1,768 new students.
The nomination papers will be distributed at the Election Commission office from 9:30am to 3:30pm everyday till Wednesday.
The elections will be held on 12 October, for 28 posts at the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU), and 16 posts in each of the student dormitories.
Chief Election Commissioner Prof M Monir Uddin has told reporters that aspirant candidates will have to pay Tk200 for collecting the nomination paper for a single hall union post, and Tk300 for a central union post. They will also have to pay an additional Tk350 for dope tests.
If a candidate tests positive for drug abuse he will be automatically disqualified.
