C T Online Desk: The delay in counting and result declaration has triggered frustration and concern among students.
Prof Mafruhi Sattar, commissioner of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) and hall union elections, has resigned from his post.
He announced his resignation around 8:45 pm on Friday.
“There was no level playing field in the election, as we generally understand it. Since yesterday, I have been under pressure not to resign, but I am stepping down,” he said.
The JUCSU election was held on Thursday, with voting starting at 9am and closing at 5pm, though in some halls it ended later than scheduled. By Friday evening, the counting was yet to be completed, delaying the publication of results.
