At least five fish traders were killed and several others injured when a pickup van rammed into a stationary covered van in Chattogram’s City Gate area early Monday (August 18).
The accident occurred around 4:55 am in the Akbar Shah area as the traders were on their way to Chattogram’s Fishery Ghat to collect fish.
Among the deceased, three were identified as Kala Das (30), Akash Das (28), and Ajit Das (30).
The Fire Service and Civil Defence’s Deputy Assistant Director in Chattogram, Md. Alamgir Hossain, confirmed the details.
He said three people died on the spot, while five others were injured and rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Police later confirmed that another victim succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
