C T Online Desk: Mahmud Foysal, Staff Reporter: A felicitated meritorious students who passed the SSC/Dakhil, HSC/Alim and Vocational examinations of the 2022-23 academic year under the Performance-Based Grants for Secondary Institutions (PBGSI) scheme under the Secondary Education Development Program (SEDP) in Noakhali.
The program was organized by the Noakhali Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Office on Monday (July 21) morning under the direction of the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education under the Ministry of Education.
Noakhali Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Akhinur Jahan Nila spoke as the chief guest at the program presided over by Noakhali Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shamima Akhter and moderated by Upazila Academy Supervisor Shanti Pad Majumdar. Noakhali District Education Officer Nur Uddin Md. Jahangir spoke as a special guest at the event. Other speakers included SSC Batch-22 meritorious student Taspiya Binte Ismail, Noakhali High School Headmaster Mahmud Riyad and Gorapur Islamia Fazil Degree Madrasa Principal Md. Nur Hasan and many others.
It is learned that 31 meritorious students who achieved good results in secondary level educational institutions in Noakhali Sadar Upazila were given crests and certificates by the PBGSI project. Earlier, financial assistance of Tk 5,000 was provided to the students’ bank account numbers under this project.
Speaking as the president of the event, Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Shamima Akhter told The Daily Campus, ‘The main objective of this project is to create a competitive spirit among students and encourage them to achieve good results. To improve the quality of education in educational institutions. The Ministry of Education took this initiative with the aim of increasing students’ interest in education and decided to implement it through the Department of Secondary and Higher Education. Under the Performance-Based Grants for Secondary Institutions under SEDP, 31 meritorious students in various categories were awarded crests, certificates and financial grants.
