Thousands join Tazia procession in Country

C T Online Desk: A Tazia procession began from Hussaini Dalan on Nazimuddin Road in Puran Dhaka, drawing a large crowd of devoted participants.

The procession started at 10am on Sunday, reports Bangla Tribune.

On the day commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), people of all ages gathered with symbolic representations of the Karbala tragedy, including Tazia, Alam, Jhula, and Tabut.

Leading the procession are two horses known as Duldul, followed by black banners, Behesta (red and green flags), Panja, Alam Matam, additional Duldul horses, Khuni (blood-smeared) horses, and a Jari Tazia.

Superintendent of Hussaini Dalan Imambara, MM Firoz Hossain, informed that the procession will proceed from the north gate of the Hussaini Dalan Imambara, moving through Hussaini Dalan Road, Bakshi Bazar Lane, Alia Madrasa Road, Bakshi Bazar (Kalpar) Intersection, Umesh Dutta Road, Urdu Road Intersection, Harnath Ghosh Road, Lalbari Chourasta Intersection, Gor-e-Shahid Mazar Intersection, Etimkhana Intersection, Azimpur Chourasta Intersection, Eden College, Nilkhet Intersection, Mirpur Road, Dhaka College, Science Lab Intersection, Road No 2 of Dhanmondi Residential Area, BGB Gate No 4, and Sat Masjid Road (Jigatola Bus Stand), concluding around 2:30pm at Dhanmondi Lake (temporary Karbala site).

Devotees participating in the procession expressed hope that the tragic incident of Karbala, in which Imam Hussain and his family were martyred, would never be repeated in history.

Meanwhile, strict security measures have been implemented at the Imambara and its surrounding areas for the Tazia procession.

Members of law enforcement agencies, including additional police personnel, remain on high alert.
