C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Mymensingh: The three-day 126th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam has been inaugurated in Trishal, Mymensingh with various programs. The three-day birth anniversary celebrations were inaugurated at the Government Nazrul Academy (formerly Darirampur High School) grounds, which are associated with the poet’s childhood memories, on Sunday (May 25) at 3 pm. The Nazrul Book Fair and Nazrul Mela were also inaugurated at the same time. Later, a discussion meeting was held at the Nazrul Mancha on the same grounds. Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mahbuba Farzana, was the chief guest. The discussion meeting was chaired by Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Mokhtar Ahmed and was attended by special guests Mymensingh Range DIG Ataul Kibria, Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Mufidul Alam, Mymensingh Superintendent of Police Kazi Akhtar ul Alam, Nazrul University Syndicate Member-2 Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton. The commemorative speakers were poet and Nazrul researcher Mahmudul Hasan Nizami and Nazrul researcher Dr. Engineer Khalequzzaman. Mymensingh Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Lutfun Nahar delivered the welcome speech. Meanwhile, a two-day birth anniversary celebration has also begun at Nazrul University, established in the name of the national poet, in Trishal. At 11 am on the opening day The program began with the laying of wreaths at the Nazrul sculpture. Later, a discussion meeting was held at the Gahi Samyer Gaan Mancha. The chief guest was Professor Dr. S.M.A. Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, and members of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh were present as special guests. Professor Dr. Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, University Treasurer Professor Dr. Zainul Abedin Siddiqui, University Syndicate Member Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton, Kabi Nazrul Institute Board of Trustees Member Jehad Uddin. University Registrar (Acting) Dr. Mizanur Rahman delivered the welcome speech. A delightful cultural program was presented in the evening.
