Mymensingh: Crowd seizes 15 sacks of OMS rice with Sheikh Hasina’s logo

C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel : In Trishal, Mymensingh, a mob seized 15 sacks of OMS rice while illegally moving it under the food-friendly program. The rice was detained for a couple of hours and the local administration was informed, but they did not take any action. Later, the illegal gang took the rice with the help of local influential people.
It is reported that since Tuesday, the sale of rice has started at 10 points at a price of 15 taka among 24,539 thousand beneficiaries in Trishal Upazila of Mymensingh, following the distribution of 676 tons of rice.
On Tuesday afternoon, local residents seized a van with 16 sacks of rice in government bags at the Kerani Bari intersection of Trishal Municipality. At that time, the van driver said that local black marketer Abul collected the rice from the Panchpara rice distribution center of Trishal Union. Later, the locals informed the Upazila Executive Officer and the Upazila Food Officer, but no officials arrived there. Later, the black marketer Abul threatened the locals and took the rice to his warehouse, the locals said.
Eyewitnesses and locals said that around noon, when we saw 15 sacks of rice in a van with the words “Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh will not be hungry” written on them, we stopped them. The van driver said that local Abul Hossain was buying government rice and taking it to his godown. Later, when we informed the UNO food officer, no one came. Later, Abul brought influential people and threatened us and took the rice. Locals claim that this corruption and black marketing is taking place with the connivance of the upazila food officer.
In this regard, Upazila Food Officer Elias Ahmed demanded that the Upazila Assistant Deputy Food Inspector be sent to the spot, but in reality, the locals did not see Laili at the spot. Regarding the sack with Sheikh Hasina’s logo, he said that he has instructed OCLSD in this regard and that it should take responsibility for implementation.
Debabrata Biswas said, “No sack with Sheikh Hasina’s logo left my godown. I have wiped every sack with my own hands.” However, his claim does not match the reality. Every dealer’s rice sack has a sack with Sheikh Hasina’s logo in it. After taking Debabrata Biswas’s statement on this matter, he called his office’s laborer Abul Kashem and asked him not to publish the news and to meet him.

The Upazila Executive Officer said, “After hearing the matter, I have ordered the food officer to take action. If he does not take action, he will be held accountable.” When asked about the sacks, Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh hunger will be destroyed, the UNO said, “These sacks are old, so the instructions were given to erase the writings on the sacks. If they are not erased, legal action will be taken in this regard.”
