BNP will not accept conspiracy in the name of reforms: Abdul Awal Mintu

C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh Bureau:  BNP Vice Chairman and prominent business leader Abdul Awal Mintu has warned that BNP will not accept any kind of conspiracy in the name of reform. He said, “Rather than reform, reform, do whatever reforms are needed for an acceptable election and quickly announce the election date.” Form a government with our support, form a party, and hold elections by conspiring. The people of the country understand all that. Announce the election date immediately, otherwise we will understand that you (interim government) are conspiring. Don’t deceive the people like the 1/11 government. Give power to the people by quickly announcing the election date.”

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a rally organized by the Mymensingh South District BNP on Thursday (February 20) evening.

At this time, Abdul Awal Mintu further said to the current interim government, “If you want to carry out reforms, those who have fled should be brought to justice. Remember, Awami League came to power and looted the people’s wealth. It took away all kinds of rights. And BNP is a liberal party. This party has returned the rights of the people. Our leader, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, gave multi-party democracy from the grip of tyranny. He gave a free, fair and acceptable election in 1990.”

Demanding an immediate announcement of the roadmap for the national elections, the main speaker of the rally, BNP National Executive Committee Organizing Secretary Shariful Alam, said, “Recently, some people are talking about local elections before the national elections. But the people of this country will not accept any local elections before the national elections. This is a deep conspiracy. Everyone should be aware of this matter.”

The rally was held on the road in front of the BNP office on Roy Road, Harikishore, Mymensingh city, demanding that the prices of essential commodities be kept affordable, the law and order situation improved, the conspiracy of fascism be confronted, and a roadmap for early elections be announced.

At that time, under the chairmanship of South District BNP Convener Zakir Hossain Bablu and moderated by the organization’s member secretary Rokonuzzaman Sarkar Rokon, BNP Executive Committee Joint Organizing Secretary Shah Wares Ali Mamun, Abu Wahab Akand Wahid, Executive Member Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Liton, Metropolitan BNP Convener Professor AKM Shafiqul Islam, South District BNP Joint Convener Alamgir Mahmud Alam, North District BNP Convener Professor Enayet Ullah Kalam, Member Secretary Motahar Hossain Talukder, and leaders of BNP and its affiliates spoke as special guests at the rally.

Earlier, from 2 pm, BNP leaders and activists from different areas of the southern district arrived at the rally venue in groups with processions. At that time, a tense situation was created across the city due to the fragmented processions. BNP leaders and activists were seen in great excitement.
