C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel, Mymensingh: A night watchman of a Madrasa has a multi-crore business, a huge fish farm and a two-storied house in Mymensingh’s Trishal. It is alleged that the night watchman became a big man overnight in connection with illegal business during the Awami League period. To change his position, he dropped the election for the post of municipal councilor. But defeated. The night watchman’s name is Shahidullah Shaheed. It is alleged that although he has been working on paper for 20 years at Trishal Central Balika Dakhil Madrasa, he has not performed his duties as a night watchman. According to Madrasa and local sources, Shahidullah Shahid, son of deceased Hatim Ali, a resident of Trishal Ujanpara area of Ward No. 2 of Trishal Municipal Area, took a job as a night watchman at Trishal Central Girls’ Dakhil Madrasa located in that area in 2004. In the beginning, he worked as a regular night watchman but gradually established himself as a businessman. His tiles and fittings business (mother enterprise) has a huge showroom in Trishal Bazar. Pangus fish feed business with crores of investment in Trishal market. His capital in the business is several crores of rupees. Ten acres of land has been rented for fish farming in Trishal municipal area. This night watchman who became the owner of crores of rupees overnight has the arrogance. He doesn’t care about anyone but bullies the superintendent of his madrasa. Even if he did not go to the madrasa, he went one or two days a month and signed the attendance register and withdrew his salary correctly. The superintendent of the madrasa refused to speak against him. However, although he did not perform the duty, the super claimed that his elder brother Ataur Rahman sometimes performed duty as night watchman in his place. Although the Superintendent did not agree to talk about this matter, the Superintendent of Trishal Central Girls Dakhil Madrasa Mujibur Rahman later said that he does not perform regular duties. He came and signed the attendance book occasionally. In his place, his elder brother Ataur officiates occasionally but not regularly. A few local people who did not want to be named said that he became a big man overnight by doing illegal business during the Awami League period. He suddenly became the owner of crores of rupees. We don’t know how it is possible to become a big man so quickly. No one dares to speak against him. When asked about this, Shahidullah Shahid proudly said, “I don’t do my duty.” Why don’t you get angry and take responsibility in my place. Then hung up the phone. Madrasa Committee President and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jewel Ahmed said that I was not aware of the matter. I will take necessary action subject to investigation in this matter.
