C T Online Desk: Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Quader Gani Chowdhury said that even though fascists fled the country, the roots of fascism still remain. If we cannot eliminate it finally, we will not achieve our goal.
Because to give fascism a chance is to be unfaithful to the blood of hundreds of martyrs.
He said these things at the meeting titled ‘Media and Fascism in Northern Bangladesh’ organized with journalists at Chittagong Metropolitan Journalist Union office on yesterday (October 19)morning .
Quader Gani Chowdhury said, we know who are the brokers of fascism. He went to the press conference of the Prime Minister and praised him, but did not ask any questions. Oil Mare used to take various facilities. It seemed that the Prime Minister’s press conference was like a reception.
He said, we have not forgotten the July-August movement. Innocent students were killed like birds in the movement. There will be no compromise with those who are agents of fascism.
Kader Gani also said, We have to talk about ourselves. We have managed to become the media but not the mass media. Now there is no shortage of chess journalists and editors. They have destroyed the dignity of our journalists. They are the ones who took privileges from the fascists for various benefits. An honest journalist never compromises with fascism, never waits for an envelope. We (journalists) have been able to be the guardian of society? We have done flattery, not journalism. Therefore, some people had to flee the country as a friend of fascism. We have to say our mistakes. Now is the time to bring back honest journalism, to protest fascism wherever it comes. We have become party slaves by kicking journalism. Yellow journalism, information terrorism is dimming accurate journalism.
He commented that the traitors who have not yet been prosecuted for Sagar-Rooney’s murder will also be brought to justice. Apart from this, Quader Gani Chowdhury also expressed his anger that no media played a role in the attack on daily Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman and the torture of traditional journalist Shafiq Rehman.
Senior journalist and board member of Chittagong Development Authority Zahedul Karim Kochi said that the country got independence for the second time through the great revolution. The previous government has antagonized journalists. I demand that the journalists who have been sacked be rehabilitated.
He also demanded immediate removal of ghosts of Awami League in the administration of Chittagong.
