More rainfall expected in next 24hrs

C T Online Desk: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday forecasted light to moderate rainfall in most places across the country for the next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rains or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely in most places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls in some places across the country, according to the forecast issued at 9am.

The monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay, it said.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over Bangladesh and the adjoining North Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

Day and night temperatures may fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius across the country.

The highest temperature on Wednesday was 35 degrees Celsius, jointly in Sayedpur and Sreemangal. The lowest temperature on Thursday was 23.2 degrees Celsius, in Bandarban.

The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am was recorded at 120 millimetres in Chittagong.
